Ernest Gaines and BRYC!
After weeks of preparation and with our partners City At Peace, Word Play and Teach For America, BRYC’s Ernest Gaines tribute event was a huge success. City At Peace students performed dramatic readings of Ernest Gaines’ short story ‘The Sky is Grey’ while Word Play read original poetry inspired by the author. Then BRYC students performed an original script that brought the audience into a classroom studying the important social themes of the short story. The venerable author was in attendance with most of his immediate family and the small gallery was packed with an incredibly diverse and enthusiastic audience. Thanks to everyone who helped make this memorable night happen!
