College Readiness

BRYC Fellows are leaders from the get-go, but they also recognize that growing as individuals will help them reach important goals in life including graduating from college . Our Leadership Team fosters such growth through

1) Team Meetings–Weekly discussions over a shared meal, cooked by BRYC staff; trouble-shooting individual, group, and community-wide challenges; leadership skills; reflection to deepen strengths and address weaknesses; accountability structure for reaching stated college, financial, and community goals.

2) Community Service & Civic Engagement–Service events in the broader Baton Rouge community; advocating for youth interests in citywide institutions and government; developing BRYC presence; recruiting future BRYC classes.

3) Post-secondary Network–Building relationships with adults and peers to create a support network for college year and beyond. Ultimately develops into a strategic network of individuals who can mobilize resources for the Baton Rouge community and its youth.
