We are extremely excited to introduce new staff to the team. Will Minton is the new Chief Academic and Program Officer, and we are so excited for him to bring his extensive work in youth development to BRYC!

Reggie is coming on board  as the new Recruitment Director for the summer! We are also welcoming a Delta Service Corp Member to the staff this coming Fall.

(Also, we are so glad to welcome Abbey back to Baton Rouge. We have missed you so much and we know you are going to be an amazing teacher!)

BRYC builds a COMMUNITY GARDEN!
On April 9th,2011 in partnership with the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), our BRYC Fellows will be breaking ground on a Community Garden right next door to the BRYC House! We are so excited to begin this project that helps our Fellows grow more conscious about nutrition and the environment.

THE BRYC HOUSE!

The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition has a new home! The BRYC House is our first secure office space that meets all of our needs. There is a kitchen to prepare our weekly meals,  space to hold program, and employee offices. It was the perfect place for Fellows, mentors, and the entire BRYC community to come together for our annual holiday party.

BRYC ATLANTA TRIP 2010 to tour colleges!

In October the BR YC Fellows took a very long bus ride to visit Clark Atlanta University, Emory University, and Morehouse College. They also visited notable sights from the Civil Rights Movement and the Coke Factory in Atlanta.

What the Fellows are saying about Atlanta: “Atlanta was incredible. I loved seeing all of the colleges. It gave me inspiration for applying.” – Jonua

BRYC Benefit Concert at Chelseas!

On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, a variety of Louisiana bands, including headlinerWinbourne and artists Sam Bryan, Jacob Zachary, and Collin Cleary and Jim Simoneaux, played up a storm at Chelsea’s Cafe,  from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The bands have generously donated their time, and all proceeds went to benefit BRYC!

The concert was hosted by BRYC’s volunteer public relations group, “Compass Communications,” as part of a capstone project by six seniors in LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication. The Compass team is worked to increase awareness and support of BRYC’s mission within the Baton Rouge community. Thanks so much to Amy Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Kristen, Lindsey, Sarah, and Summer for their hard work!
